Meet the team… Tom Rishton

We are who we are because of our fantastic roster of passionate professionals who enable us to deliver cutting-edge work for our clients. In our “Meet the Team” series, we’re pulling back the curtain and introducing you to some of the people who make the magic happen.

This month, we’re speaking to Panel Plant Operative, Tom Rishton.

What do you do at Mansell

I work as a Panel Plant Operative here at Mansell. My main responsibility is handling the panels we build on-site—loading them into packs and ensuring they're securely placed into trailers. Safety is really important in my role so it’s about being thorough and making sure everything is secure before transportation.

How did you get into the industry?

A good friend of mine, Rowan, was already part of the Mansell team. He passed along the contact number, and I decided to give it a shot. It's been just over a year now. While I've done various yard jobs before, this is my first venture into the construction industry and I’ve never looked back.

What motivates you in your job?

Setting and achieving targets really keeps me driven. Mansell gives us incentives and goals to aim for and it's rewarding to see the results from our hard work. There's also a progression plan in place, which gives me something to work up to.

What do you find unique about Mansell?

Mansell is just a really friendly and supportive place to work. The environment is positive and there's a strong emphasis on teamwork. Everyone works together to hit our targets and as long as the work gets done, we can have a good laugh while we’re doing it.

Have you been involved in any social value initiatives?

Absolutely! I've spent about six hours participating in litter picking around Horwich, which was a great way to give back to the community. I’m working on getting some fundraising activities together, maybe through my football team. Watch this space!

Tell us a bit about yourself outside of work.

I'm a massive Bolton Wanderers fan and follow them passionately—even when promotions slip through our fingers like it did last season. We’ve made a few good signings for 2024/2025 so there’s a bit of positivity to cling on to there.

When I'm not watching football, I'm on the pitch myself, playing four times a week. I also hit the gym daily and love spending time with family and friends.
