Meet the team… Steve Marshall
We are who we are because of our fantastic roster of passionate professionals who enable us to deliver cutting-edge work for our clients. In our “Meet the Team” series, we’re pulling back the curtain and introducing you to some of the people who make the magic happen.
This month, we’re speaking to Site Manager, Steve Marshall.
What do you do at Mansell
I’m a site manager for the on-site team. That means I spend most of my time ensuring that the work we do hits the brief in terms of quality, scheduling and health and safety. I love working with the team and delivering projects to be as best as they can be.
How did you get into the industry
I’ve worked with Mansell since my early 20’s (with a few years at other outfits before coming back) so I’ve been in the game for twenty-odd years. I started out on the tools before moving not site management in 2019.
It’s been quite a journey and has seen me work on some amazing projects down the years.
What motivates you in your job
It’s all about the end product for me.
We come to a site when it’s basically a shell. Once we leave it’s a beautifully finished building. People will live there, work there or have fun there depending on what kind of project we’re working on.
Seeing projects come together and the quality finishes we’re able to apply is massively motivating for me and the entire team.
What do you think is unique about Mansell?
It’s no secret that Mansell is a family business and that really shines through in the way they treat their staff.
Having spent a few years working elsewhere, I know some business like to say they look after their people. The big difference is Mansell really do. There’s a family atmosphere and you can get training to better yourself and all the support you need to be at your best.
How are you engaging with Mansell’s social value pledge?
I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with my social value pledge. I’m going to be at Bolton Hospice at the end of June helping out with some painting and decorating.
Red or Blue?
Massive Red fan and my local Stockport County. Up the Hatters!
What do you get up to outside of work?
I love to cook. My family will tell you I make a mean roast dinner.
I’m also partial to the odd game of snooker and darts. If you can play it in a pub I’m keen!
I also love getting out in the wild for a day fishing.
